Hi, we’re Courtney and Matt. We’re the couple behind Living in History, where we share our life living in and restoring a historic home. We met in college and bonded over a shared love of old houses, design, and history. At the time, we had no idea that interest would turn into buying a historic house and slowly taking on the project of restoring it ourselves. Our home is where we live, raise our family, and spend a lot of time learning as we go. It has original details, creaky floors, and plenty of quirks, and part of what we share is what it’s really like to care for a place that’s been around a lot longer than we have. A big part of our story is the antiques and personal items left behind by a previous owner. We’ve been slowly uncovering, researching, and restoring these pieces, and using them as a way to learn about the people who lived here before us. It’s become a kind of ongoing treasure hunt and a way to feel connected to the home’s history. Living in History isn’t just about a house. It’s about preservation, curiosity, and the idea that old things still have value and stories worth telling. We’re not experts, just people figuring it out as we go and sharing what we learn along the way. We love that this has turned into a community of people who care about old homes, old stories, and keeping pieces of the past alive in a modern world.
